Maintenance of the polishing drum

Make sure that the outside of the drum is always clean and dry before it is placed on the shaft. A new drum may initially show slight rubber abrasion on the shafts. This is normal. Then clean the drum with a dry cloth and possibly also the shafts with a little white spirit. If the drum has been running for a long time, it is possible that the surface is no longer as grippy and that it slips a little on the waves. Then lightly roughen the outside of the rubber drum with a fine brass wire brush.

Shafts and sleeve bearings should always be kept clean (free of dust and dirt accumulation), especially at the end of the shaft, to prevent contamination of the sleeve bearings. If a shaft does not turn well after a long period of use or if the shaft squeaks, you should use a drop of oil on the end of the shaft. The oil gets into the bearing as a result of the rotary movement.

Continuous operation

The motor is intended for continuous operation. It can and should run continuously day and night. It is normal for it to get hot and the case to get warm as a result.
