Silicon Carbide / Aluminum Oxide / Plastic Pallets

Instructions for grinding

The rubber drum of the Lortone polishing drum is to be filled approx. ¾ with small raw stones.
The size of the stones can vary, but they should not exceed the size of 3 - 4 cm.
It is ideal if the stones have different sizes, for example from 10mm - 35mm.
In addition, the stones to be processed should have the same hardness.

Grinding And Polishing Powder

Add about 10% silicon carbide (1 kilo stones = 100g grinding powder) to a drum filling for coarse powder. For finer grinding powder/polishing powder add about 6%.
The grinding / polishing powders are numbered.

After the stones and powder have been placed in the drum, the drum is filled with water about 1cm to 2cm below the stone surface.
Now the drum is closed and the machine is turned on.

The contents of the drum must be checked every 2 days.
Be careful when opening the drum, there may be a slight overpressure.

The stones are now processed with one type of powder until you can no longer see any improvements. Then you switch to the next powder type / work step.

A Notice
After a grinding / polishing process, the stones, the drum and the hands are to be washed. It is more advantageous to have a separate polishing drum for each type of powder. In the case of particularly soft stones, it is advisable to use the "Plastic Pallets" as a filler. These prevent the stones from being scratched.
