With an end mill, the cutting surface and clamping surface are made from one piece. The milling cutter is clamped into the milling cutter holder of micromotors, hanging drill motors or drilling machines.

Milling cutters are usually made of steel, high-speed steel (HSS) or carbide (solid carbide) to ensure durability and resistance to the heat and pressure of the milling process.

Ball milling cutters (ball nose milling cutters, ball end milling cutters) are a special form of end milling cutters. The cutting geometry of the ball nose cutter consists of a spherical cutting tip. It is suitable for milling concave surfaces, narrow radii, free-form surfaces and more complex geometries.

The shaft diameters are each 2.35 mm.
